The Victoria GSC is proud to present Super Saturday in the clubrooms on Saturday October 24, 2009.

The day starts off with a kit presentation to Kings Park Primary School, paid for by your donations during last season’s campaign. Then at 3pm it’s the main event, Glenavon v Linfield as the two sides battle to stay in touch at the top of the Carling Premiership. Kings Park will also be playing at half time in their brand new Victoria-sponsored kits.

Then at 5.30pm it’s Chelsea v Blackburn Rovers. Barclays Premiership leaders Chelsea host Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn as they aim to keep ahead of Manchester United. But Rovers will want to take a massive scalp to help pull themselves out of the bottom half of the table.

After the football the evening continues as we get quizzical with Chris Tarrant (he’s on the DVD, folks) and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Are any of our members or their friends smart enough to reach a virtual million pounds? Come along and find out or even put your name forward to play for a bit of craic!

Finally, the night comes to a close with that old Victoria classic – karaoke! Emulate the heroics of legends like Paul Carvill (above – sorry mate but we couldn’t resist) and sing along to all the classics.

It’s a night not to be missed and with all this entertainment to be had for the price of your entry into the match it’s one not to be missed! For more information ask any Victoria GSC committee member

Good news for Carsie and the boys…

July 21, 2009

1239798088_carling-logoCarling are being confirmed as the new sponsors of the IFA Premiership today.

From today’s Belfast Telegraph:

The Irish Football Association will today announce Carling as the new sponsors of their 12-team Premier League.

Coors Brewers and its Carling brand have benefitted from several football sponsorship deals, particularly in England with the Football League to sponsor the Carling Cup.

The IFA’s one-year sponsorship deal with sports retailer JJB Sports ended in May and the football body will be relieved to welcome a new partner on board after months of talks.

It is understood that the deal covers two seasons and will net the IFA in excess of £200,000.

JJB Sports will continue to sponsor the Irish Cup. Carling will hope that the new top flight gets off to a better start than a year ago when the first round of fixtures had to be rearranged due to a referees’ strike.

Rumours that the money spent on Carling in the Victoria are paying for the deal are said to be ‘partly true’. Free samples anyone? :)
